| Loretta Haskins was born 9 Jul 1865 in Sheldon, Monroe Co., WI and died 19 Jun 1924 in Palmdale, Los Angeles Co, CA. On 17 September 1883 at Cashton, Portland Twp, Monroe, WI she married Adolph Frederick Meissner , who was born 20 Mar 1861 at Cashton, Portland Twp, Monroe Co, WI, and died d: 10 Sep 1939 at Moore, OK. Her parents were George Alburn Haskins (b 1838) and Celesta Anna Brey (b 1844). Children of George Haskins and Celesta Brey were Loretta also had a step-sister, Clara Etta Haskins (1884-1969) who married Eugene Clyde Haskins ( her half-nephew, son of George Elbert Haskins, b 1861) Little is known about Loretta's ancestry on her father's (George Haskins) side – George's father was Silas Haskins (1810-1858) who in 1839 married Prudence Hand. The father of Silas was George Haskins, born about 1787 in Scotland. Loretta's father, George Haskins, was a friend of William Brey, who was almost 20 years older than George. Loretta's mother was Celesta Brey, William's daughter. William Brey's wife, Samantha Andrus, was descended from an early American family. Samantha's grandfather, Seth Cole, fought in the American Revolution. |
